I’m an author and I write books for young people (I sometimes write for adults too).
The Elizabethan Mysteries, published by Usborne, are set in Tudor times and feature Ben Button, a boy actor in the lively – and sometimes murky – world of the Elizabethan Theatre.

What am I up to now? I'm working on a new children's book (don't ask - it's secret!).
My new historical novel for adults, After the Fire, is a mystery set in the years following the Great Fire of London. It was published in April - I hope you'll check it out. There will also be an audio-book published next year, as well as a Large Print version.
But the best news is that my last book in the 'Elizabethan Mysteries' series, Thief!, has been shortlisted for the new Young Quills Award for junior historical fiction, in the 8-12 years category. The other shortlisted titles are The Magic Half by Annie Barrows, Day of the Assassins by Jonny O'Brian and Hetty Feather by Jacqueline Wilson. So I'm proud to be in such good company. The winner will be announced in September.
I also hope to be visiting more schools and libraries in the new term, to talk about my work and give advice to aspiring young writers. Go to the Contact Me page if you'd like to arrange a visit.
